Environmental Policy

CERN - the European Organization for Nuclear Research - is committed to respect and protect the environment. This goal is realized mainly through :


1

Ensuring the level of environmental safety and protection specified by European Directives and Standards;

Integrating pollution prevention, risk management, conservation of resources and waste reduction into existing and planned activities in order to minimize their environmental impact;

3

Continuous improving of its environmental performance in compliance with the International Standard ISO14001;

4

Carrying out an environmental monitoring programme, agreed with the Host States authorities, aimed at measuring the conventional and radiological impact of its activities;

5

Informing the Host States authorities of the results of the environmental monitoring programme, and of environmental aspects of new projects.
